Vedute Gallery

Vedute — urban landscapes — do not always depict complex historic architecture, although that is often the first expectation. Cities also contain parks, flower beds, wildflowers, worn corners, urban animals, and the play of light and shadow. And cities themselves may be large, medium, small, or even the smallest of all — unlike most of my gouache works, which are typically 36 × 48 cm in format.

Vedute capture not only architecture but also the everyday life of a city — its light and shadow, its alleys, and its hidden corners. Each urban landscape in this collection is an invitation to discover spaces we usually pass by in haste.
